How it can protect us?

The design principle of the stun gun is causing intense pain and loss of muscle control. Only when the stun gun makes contact with perpetrator, can it make effect. The electrical shock disrupts brain impulses that cause coordinated action, making the recipient unable to control muscles and cause severe muscular contractions that will produce lactic acid. Lactic acid will result fatiguing a muscle, so the attacker will quickly falls to the ground, allowing you some time for escape and get assistance.

In addition, an electric shock from the stun gun will interrupt the attacker’s nervous system and minimize the contact of brain and peripheral nerve. This “nerve stop” will temporarily incapacitate a potential attacker to hurt you.  

Furthermore, if the first electric shock doesn’t let the attacker fall to the ground, then you can once again applied the current until the attacker falling down. Because the amperage is very low, even there will be minor scratches or burn marks, no serious or permanent injury is inflicted.
