very interesting topic
1) 900 sec control flooding ==> 900 sec = 15 minutes ==> just don't forget time is money
2) pay to full members access ==> lamer has money too
3) download section ==> what kind of downlod could be their you can't find in another place ==> just search
when Trojanforge closed, i didn't open my own forum with TM and other friends to escape lamers and kiddy problem
i could read some very interesting topics on this bord and i know keeping this forum clean must be a pain ass
so keep it on

1) The admins get tired of running it.
2) The government requests information on a member and the admins have to choose between handing it over and no one posting here anymore or not handing it over and shutting down the forum.
3) Legal issues because users are posting messages with encrypted passwords and asking people to "crack" md5, sha, or lm hashes.
Some members were violating #3.
The thing that complicates matters is that of all the admins and moderators, every single one of us is a member of *another* forum. (At least, as far as I can tell)
We don't want to see people throwing down md5 hashes saying: "hack this so I can deface X website" when we ourselves are members of X. Especially if there is the possibility that someone could obtain our passwords on another forum and then come here and log in as one of us.
The admins aren't stupid. They aren't going to let people post actual account information or passwords. It's inviting a whole slew of legal complications that made admining a headache and chore, not a fun thing to do.

but... i think that should be posted as a sticky or something seperate... it's kind of really important and in the "full member status" topic, it doesn't really fit in, in my opinion... just a thought
btw @ roger_girardin- you post to get full member, not pay

what????Just wanted to mention that now when I can't reach exploits section it's impossible for me to participate in the forums and be active (unless I'll start making some useless+stupid posts in inactive sections). Therefore there is no way that I'll gain full member status and recognition from admins.
do you mean it's impossible... do you specifically only deal with exploits and vulnerabilities?
edit: btw only 5 of your 9 posts are in the ER&D forum. You've made it with almost half of your posts in other forums.

I would hate to see these forums go, in the few months i have been a member my knowleadge on Network Security has expended greatly from just reading threads on here alone, if the admins ever come to that conclusion - take a look at the good, valuable content compared to the crap (not inc. "thank you *i really want to get to download section NOW*" messages) there is allot more good posts then bad. There are three reasons why this forum might shut down:
1) The admins get tired of running it.
2) The government requests information on a member and the admins have to choose between handing it over and no one posting here anymore or not handing it over and shutting down the forum.
3) Legal issues because users are posting messages with encrypted passwords and asking people to "crack" md5, sha, or lm hashes.

....
Maybe new members should be made to post a 'why i think i would be valuable to a comunity like this in 200words or less' message, and then get mae a Trial member or somthing haha
"3) Legal issues because users are posting messages with encrypted passwords and asking people to "crack" md5, sha, or lm hashes."
Anyone that posts that type of question should automaticly be flaged as being upto no good, or stupid (for not searching) and deleted - there are ample threads that tell you how to do it, and with that sql injection exploite was pretty stupid of that member to post the plain text password, there wasnt many options with what he was going to do with the password - but maybe nulladd thought he was planning on sending a "your forum password is weak and is vunerable to X you should change your password & update asap" email to the forum owner lol
Im sure every one has done stupid things like that in the heat of the moment one time or another!

hmmm am going away for a few days... but i think once i have a word with the rest of the admin team... we could sort something out for the Trial members and that forum...or poss a new one..Would it be possible for members such as myself be able to create threads in the Beginners section? I wanted to ask a question but was unable to create a thread even there
if we do you would not be able to upload any software , you would only be able to start topics.
will get back to you about it soon...

i still receive emails for exploits and the such, and i always respond with any info or software that i am able. but i am in search of other forums now.
i remember when i knew absolutely nothing about security, or even computers for that matter. and i remember when any information that i gathered did make me more dangerous. but we all reach the point that we understand it isn't being
there, it's getting there. and we move on to the next level. and those are the members that i want to correspond with, those interested in the next level.
it just seems to me that the problems that are happening here are obvious, and the solution is obvious as well. someone posts any inappropriate matter, they are banned. they come back with another handle and do it again, they are banned.
it isn't very hard after you read three or four posts from someone to see a motive or personality. warn them, ban them.
how many forums have we all seen become useless or dissolve for the same reasons?
trojan forge was an absolute goldmine, and the more people came, surely, there was more bullshit to be waded through. but now, no bullshit, no tf.
it's about information, gentlemen.
open source is about accessible information.

you take out the garbage, you don't restrict the content.
this was an incredible place not very long ago.
but i've seen this happen to forums before, and you've seen this happen to forums before.
and i can tell you, the first members you lose are the very same that you want to stay.
i wish you luck.

Well that is what the new forum is for.i know that myself personally has emailed the admins for permission to start a new topic, outlined why i wanted to start it, and what it was about, absolutely nothing to do with exploits or illegal activity, and haven't gotten a response after about a month. i mean, you can't really bitch about people giving bs responses to topics that they don't really have no business responding to, just to up their status, and then not allow them to create legitimate topics. it limits the content. i mean, this is the world out here. and yeah, there are crooks out here. computer security is a very sensitive topic. but intelligence weeds itself. i was very excited when i found this forum, and my knowledge grew by leaps and bounds when i first joined. but to be honest, the subjects that i am able to access now are redundant and stagnant.
