I have been researching on this for a long time. My question is, how would I SPOOF my IP HOSTNAME On a IRC chat website like TeenChatCenter.com so my host name comes up with something different? For a example, when someone logs in, it will come up as
(Nickname) Hostname: XXXX.Triad,res,rr,com''
Now if you try to sign in with another nickname at the same time, it will come up with the same hostname so people know you're on two differant nicknames. I tried to get around this by using a standard web PROXY SERVER. The problem is, when trying to log in, it still resolves my normal host name and does not offer me any annomomity at all. I've also tried running a proxy server via my browser settings but it still resolves my normal host name.
You will have to speak to me like a total begginer. I have no idea about the technical terms of doing this. I've read about some kind of IRC BOUNCER? Then buying a Shell account? It all seems too technical for me. I also really don't want to get K LINED by the server. So the safest, simplest method would be great.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Any thoughts?

Check and see if the irc network in question has 'masquerading' services.. aka 'masking/cloaking'
If so only the ircopers should be able to see your host.

IRC bouncers are really the only way to go in this regard... and they only work if your are connecting directly with an IRC client... not a web based IRC client... web based IRC clients work in two ways they either use the IP of the server to do the connection or they are java based and use your locally resolved ip address... to my knowledge there is not a way to spoof either of those.
Now with a regular IRC client, you can configure it to connect to a 3rd party system where you have a BNC / Bouncer listening... the bouncer already has a pre-established connection with the irc network so the connection appears to be coming from nthe 3rd party system instead of yours.
Now if its your IP's privacy you are concerned with you really dont need to be concerned.... like Glyph pointed out IRC networks mask your true IP so no other user is capable of getting your IP unless you are a dumby and are easily social engineered into clicking links or downloading stuff you know nothing about and then they could easily get your ip regardless of which protections you have in place.
