Hello everybody,

I want to enquire how one goes about deploying 802.1X on powerline networks. Here is my confusion:

With 802.1X you secure ports on a switch, where a LAN cable is plugged into the switch and the computer. In short, the computer authenticates with 802.1X and the port is opened.

With powerline networking, you can only plug the one ethernet cable into the switch. The one powerline adapter however connects one or MORE computers into a network. So according to me, when one computer authenticates, this will open the port and all computers will have access to the network. This is not wanted, as can be imagined.

According to An Introduction to Power Line Communications - Xavier Carcelle is seems possible to do it, but I am not sure how this deployment will work. It is also mentioned in the HomeplugAV standard that 802.1X is possible, which is the standard that we are using.

I don't mind putting work into this setup, I just need some guidance on this topic as there doesn't seem to be much information on this topic on the net. I would appreciate any links, books, material or member that would be able to assist me
