I have a 'live' ID that i use on messenger, for a month i havent used it and couple of my contacts got back to me saying we're getting strange messages giving links and containing inappropriate messages..

i logged in to my ID today, changed the password and they still keep getting those messages.. My question , if this isnt hacked then how was it able to send messages to my live messenger contacts when i was offline in the first place..??

Its good that you changed your password, also have you ran a full virus scan on your computer, just to make sure its not infected. I would recommend using Avast or AVG.
