Does anyone know if its possible to modify the prefs.js using a server side script perhaps using javascript ? Can it only be done on the client side by an application or can it be also done via malicious server side script ? I'm just trying to figure out if this some code exploit because my preferences were modified somehow and I'm trying to figure out if it was done via server side or client side of things like a virus on my system. I'm using Firefox 3.6.16.
Thanks in advance
Victor

If the client side script (JavaScript) contains some kind of exploit attach to it, or has been written in such a way then it may be possible to modify the prefs.js, Since the javascript is running on the clients end not on the server end, as opposed to server side scripts.
In addition, if a computer is infected with a worm/virus than you can pretty much say goodbye to prefs.js.
