Ophcrack Iso Extraction Took Ages...

Time after time, burn after burn, the ISO file just would not unpack to reveal the Bootable Slitaz Linux directory structure. The tutorial on the Ophcrack site is woefully amiss. Eventually, using a trial version of UltraISO, I managed to unpack the Ophcrack ISO, and it was easily bootable after I had burned it to CD. It then took me about 3 minutes to retrieve my forgotten password! Hope this workaround helps to compensate for the Ophcrack tut.

Konboot on USB. Doesn't retrieve the password, just bypasses the login system.
So you don't need a password and can change the password for later use.

Or you could crack it yourself using the free rainbow tables generated by freerainbowtables.com.
Use them with rcracki_mt.
You could reset the password using offline NT password editor. Works on NT/2k/XP/Vista/Win7.
Optionally you can install ophcrack on the usb stick using unetbootin.

How successful is Konboot, i heard it doesn't work very well.
Besides two of my favorite tools are OPHcrack and Offline-NT-Password.

Konboot has worked great on every PC i have tried it on (all XP, however).
If that doesn't get you very far, Stoned Bootkit can do the same, but has some extra features like TrueCrypt bypassing.

Yeah, heard of Stoned Bootkit and its a really good utility to have in your hacking tool box. Now no system is safe.
