im looking to get this qualification *EC-Council - Certified Ethical Hacker* throughout my summer holiday ( i say summer holiday because i read its i five day course!!? but im not to fussed if that longer because i have 2 months of 24 hour free time before i start college) does anyone know if it is possible to study the course in the united kingdom in the Nottingham area (im only 16 so I don’t really want to be travelling to London every day ¬¬ ) or online or something because this is the sort of area of work i want to go into when I finished university ( which i also plan to get a degree in ethical hacking and digital security then go onto to get a masters in AI or something :S ) but i think this qualification is the way to start becoming a certified white hat hacker. Thanks for any information
Edit :

Your first challenge in becoming a Certified Ethical Hacker should be to read and understand what it takes to become a CEH.

Alternatively you could study it yourself. There are stacks of books, e-books, CBT, video DVD training labs and everything out there. Before you sign up for a 4 day course, you should really atleast get a book or dvd and go through the material and make sure you understand all of it, you don't want to waste your money. (And if it looks easy to you, you could just use those study materials and sit the exam yourself without paying for the course)

Depending on your history, self-training may or may not be enough to qualify to take the exam. Here's why:
When I went to take the CEH, I had to get a letter from my supervisor confirming my 2 years work experience (since I was able to go the self-study route). If you can't satisfy the two year work experience, you're required to take the formal training.
As for cost, I bought my materials off of Amazon (MUCH cheaper that way). I believe the total cost was around $300 (~$50 for study prep, $250 for exam), but I'm not sure what it would be for the formal class. It's a nice cert, but if you'd rather not spend the money on formal training, there are other certs you could try to get (Security+, etc.)
Cheers,

FAQ
11. Can I purse self-study and attempt the exam instead of attending formal training?
The answer is yes. You must show 2 years of work experience in security related field. You must also submit CEH exam eligibility application and obtain authorization from EC-Council before you can attempt the exam. Please visit http://www.eccouncil.org/takeexam.htm for more details.
