I personally like to use Gmail because it offers a good inbox capacity and it is never blocked under any filters, because of cause it is Google.
When in doubt pull the pin and run...

I am too paranoid to tell a public forum (especially one full of hackers) which email i use.

In terms of 'features' though, gmail wins hands down. the problem i have with google is, well... they are taking over the world. they harvest your personal information and browsing habits and anything else you let them in on. Google Picasa? Email? They all seem harmless and useful services on the surface... but who ELSE has access to all of the data they horde is what i dont like. When top government agencies have access to all of this type of information then i prefer to stay clear. Of course, that is just personal preferences and paranoia.

Then services like yahoo and hotmail. well.. their reputation on security speaks for itself.

One email service i found pretty sweet was hushmail. Although technically it's no more secure than anything else, it just has some cool features like VPN access.

your own mail server where you can view and control who and what has access is the way to go :)
