Would anyone be interested in following GSO on twitter? If so what would you want to see, discussion topics and news?

Yes I'd be interested :).

It would be fun way to keep up-to-date with the most recent developments and such ;).

Could take a little brainstorming to get a reliable system going but shouldn't be too hard.

Very true, Korupt. One thing that is always hard to pin down is what communication medium GSO regulars prefer. Obviously the ones on the forum most likely prefer the forum since they are here ;) So I am sure the results can be slightly skewed.

GSO is an interesting beast since according to our traffic stats the community is actually split into two distinct categories, the people in the forums, and those that read the main site and news. The forum and the main site actually split the traffic 50 50 since the revamp was done. Trying to figure out how to improve the experience for both distinct reader types is always a challenge ;-)

Interesting indeed...

I notice the poll has been slightly tampered with(there is 1 vote missing :P ).

At the moment I'm not quite sure what type of system will work here as far as what content needs to be sent out. If I come up with something I'll drop a reply.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Can't say I'm a fan of "the twitter".

Still no that many votes in, so I would have to say that either people agree with you or they aren't that interested ;-)

What would you 'tweet' about though? Whenever new articles are published or would it be more of a personal type thing with the GSOstaff or something?

To be honest, i've never even seen twitter, but sounds like with a bit of creative implementation it could be a productive tool.

I would make it a lot more personal. Like one daily topic to discuss back and forth

Guess it won't hurt to trial it and see how it goes. So i guess it could be like... less 'formal' than the forums, but more 'formal' than IRC.

If you do decide to go ahead with it though, i will happily create an account and come along for the ride. Been meaning to find a reason to check out this mystical creature called 'Twitter'.

Well I am not sold on doing it yet, hasn't exactly been a huge rush of people saying they want to read it ;-)

Ok i just signed up... argghh i feel dirty

On a semi unrelated note. I was watching Hak5 last night... and they were controlling a tamagotchi on a screen with a PHP script plugged into VLC but they were sending it commands on twitter. I think they also made a USB rocket launcher which you can control with tweets aswell. /interesting.

Sorry, but all of these extraneous mediums of communication are impeding rather than improving, collaboration.
