Circuit City has been on the ropes for some time now. Recently they announced massive store shutdowns as well as in huge cutoffs of personnel. They were hoping to stop the bleeding and perhaps get the company back on track. It's been a long time coming. Like many other electronic stores, they were just too slow reacting to the changing markets.
