I know it's a bit obvious but, hxxp://Wikipedia.org seems to have an in depth article as far as history goes.

You haven't really said what kind of info on it that you want.
History, Current Events, or Types etc.
If your friend just wants to do his homework on it I would say start with
1. HxxP://Wiki,org
2. Articles from here
3. Articles from HxxP://Google,com
