Im using rapidleech to tansfer the files to my server, thats working fine. the only problem is the games are in a rar file and cPanel can only unzip zip archives. (to my knowledge).

So, I need a script that I can run on my server to unrar the rar archives and put all the files from those rar's in the same directory as the rar files. If you know what i mean.

The other problem is, the rar files are in formats like "games.part1.rar" and "games.part2.rar"... its about a 300mb rar file split up into 100mb parts... so the script needs to unrar the files from different rar files so it wont get corrupted. Im not sure this is a problem but its worth mentioning.

I can help you. Download all those files from the server, unrar them locally and upload them again. If the server doesnt have an unrar app, it cant unrar the files no matter what fancy script you make.

Since yo uare running cpanel most likely you are running a flavor of linux closely related to fedora / redhat. I would ask your host to install unrar. they can do this easily with the information found at this link

Once it is installed you can use the info near the bottom of the link to unrar the files. If you don't have shell access through your cpanel and they do install the script you can write a shell script and upload it then use the crontab option in cpanel to unrar the files for you.


ie

ls | grep *rar >> files.txt
for ffiles in $(files.txt); do unrar x $ffiles; done

That is just a ruff script and may need some editing.

Or you could dl the the unrar source and statically compile on the same version of linux your host uses then upload it to your home dir and run it locally by using the ./unrar .

precompile unrar binaries are avaliable from rarlabs im am unsure how ever if you would be able to "install" it with out root access but i guess you could try it

If they are precompiled to run on Linux wont need to be installed so it should work as long as the admin did not lock cpanel down where you cant run executables. I still think the best route to go at first is to just ask the admin. For a request this simple I cant see them given you too many issues if any.

I am willing to bet that no matter what you do, you cant get a *.exe to work as the machine is probably a *nix box.

You could very well download the binary tar ball from rarlabs.com on to your host. Extract the tar ball.
Upload a phpshell, use the command

./rar e games01.rar .

and you will have the files extracted.

Uploading of a phpshell might be considered illegal by your host and if the safe_mode is on your out of luck.
I havent used cpanel, but if you can set cron jobs with it then you dont even need to upload a phpshell. Just set the cron job to extract the files for you.
Or make a small php script which does that,

Something of that sort should work out.
