I just recompiled the 2.6.20 kernel after making some changes to it.
But I am unable to boot from it.
When I boot from it, the kernel is properly loaded, as I get this message

uncompressing linux... O.K. booting the kernel

but then nothing happens and I get these values of registers at the bottom of the screen

Int 14: CR2 c0800000 err 00000002 EIP c044afb4 CS 00000060 flags 00010006

after that the dump of stack is there

stack: co6ed7co 00000000 00001000 00001000 fffff000 00000000 ffffffff 00000801

Please help.
And Is there any webpage or book that explains determining the kind of error from the above kind of data ?
Googling didn't help.
There is no rule, law or tradition that apply universally... including this one.

Been a while, but if I'm not mistaken int14 is hard drive/controller issue.
google for "interrupt 14".. that would be my initial clue.
