I was reading through this and noticed that most of the responses are members say something like "to learn about computers" or "information". Those answers just feel to inside the box for someone how "hacks".
you don't hack because you want to or to try and learn something. You hack because its you, and the way you think. Hacks go much further than computers. Someone who hacks looks at a scenario and asks, "How does this work, and how can I manipulate it?" Its a mindset not an act.
Why do I hack?
Because I can't look at something without ripping it apart and figuring out how to make it work for me!

Well I dun hack at all... I learnt about Security issues because I heard all about ppl getting into other ppls comps while they were online , and felt a lil vulnerable since I was jst a newbie back then in the 80's... {lil while ago}... then I heard about firewalls and jst so hapened to install a super paranoid one called Blackice... where every 10secs I was getting attacked... next thing you know I was all over the net learning all about it....Thus beginning my journey....

well hacking is a great way to learn about security. you learn about other peoples vulnerabilities, and you can actually protect your own box even better
