I've been thinking about going for this certification (simply as a hobby) and wanted to see who else tested out on this and what you thought of the exam. Maybe personal study recommendations?

Also had my eye on the PMP - Project Management Professional Certification.

Still no word on my CISSP score 11 days and waiting.. I'm told, if I pass I won't get my actual score. They only tell you your score if you fail.. hmm..

Well it took 16 days for me to get my results and no they don't tell you your score if you pass. If you fail they will break it down by domain. Good luck with those results. I know how it is up here in northern VA/DC. It seems thats all anyone wants to see. As for the GSEC i think its a nice addition to the CISSP with the CISSP being designed more for managers and the GSEC being more technical.

Unless it's changed, the GSEC is an open book test and is composed of 2 long technical exams. If you wish to take it, I would recommend purchasing the GSEC books or taking the week long course. Before I took the test, I bookmarked topics of interest in all six GSEC books I had. This made it much easier once I actually took the exam to find information quickly. You need to be organized or you'll run out of time.

Also, SANS is really good about listening to your feedback. There were a few problems I marked and commented on after the exam and they quickly got back to me and in a few instances awarded me points.

In relation to this, can anyone mention any good books that help to pass the gsec. im not looking for books that will teach me only whats on the test, but that will help me pass the exam as well as to learn about the topics covered.
