Hey everyone. I have asked Blake about this first and got the ok, so I have now created a Folding@Home team for GSO, the official team is called governmentsecurity.org. For those who don't know what this project is look at this page. It's basically for medical research...if everyone here downloads and runs the software it will be a major help, will even make GSO stand out :) It just uses spare CPU cycles on you're computer, so leave the client running and it will be actively contributing to the project. Now for the configuration.

Go to the download page and select the one for you're operating system, pretty much most operating systems are supported...Windows, Mac, Linux and BSD. After installing the software right click the client > configure and then enter 64022 as the team number. Make sure that you enter 64022 as the team number to contribute to our team. If anyone has any problems or needs any advice PM me and I'll see if I can help. Hope everyone installs this and gives it a go :)

The team statistics page is here: http://fah-web.stanf...p;teamnum=64022

Up and running, go GSO team go. I used to run some distributed computing project but it was to find ETs.. ;)
It's a good idea.

Hey Dennis, I was worried about this at first too...if you look at the client it will say something like 8000 frames completed and at the bottom of the page you will see something that says "WU End", so basically when the WU completes it will start updating the GSO team statistics page. It should give you an estimation of how long the WU will take to complete, mine says 2 days and I have 9000 frames out of 20.000 complete. Don't be alarmed by the page not being updated, it will happen after we all complete the WU's :) Thanks to everyone that is taking part in this, more members the better our team will be doing.

After you have left the nodes running for a couple of hours or whatever the WU ending time will change. Mine originally said it would take until February 2008 to complete...I was shocked as the software is running on a P4 with 512mb RAM. It just takes a little while for the computing to make a realistic estimation of the time it takes to finish.

I'll see if I can set up my ps3 this weekend, though I'm hooked on tony hawk's project 8 atm

much rather be looking into the possibility of using it for rainbowtables, it should perform nicely :P
