a couple of months back a friend challenged me to access his online shopping cart and site for a bet... i did make a post in the Mods forum... detailing how i won the bet...his site and DB was ment to be on a secure server... i gathered all the info etc and passed it on as proof .. passwords,cc details ,contacts ..snapshot of his db etc...the bet was for £50 (his challenge)...the challenge was made in a Pub infront of several friends...who also told the police they witnessed the challenge..
BUT after paying up.. he then went on to complain to his server of how slack there security was...idiot gave out what i gave him...they checked the logs and got my IP... i was NOT using a proxy because it was for a friend (ex-friend i should say) so was not expecting a come back... his server then reported me...after i explained and got the shit to verify his challenge...the police took a leniant view...after finding my so called mate was the instigator in the hack...
anyway cut a long story short...no charges are being made and my computers have been returned after a month of investigation ...were i was infact praised for my white hat status by informing all parties if i found a loop hole...
end off saga
regards
Kenny
ps... thanks to all for your kind comments on my departure ..only a very selected few knew the reason why...i think you will undestand why i deleted my account rather abruptly and made a rapid exit...as not to involve GSO

Can you please explain the raid in Full detail? Time of day, how many officers, did they trash the place, did you get your PC(s) back and what condition were they in??
Thanks,
well if you send me a PM i will give a bit of details... i just dont want to say much in public... because they had logs of my ISP and know i was an admin here...so you never know who might be reading this.... but i can say this... Nope they never trashed the place at all ...and infact were very polite , one woman officer even played with 4 of my younger kids in another room as not to scare them... and she sat and talked with my wife as if they had known each other all there lives
btw thanks guys for the warm welcome...good to be back among friends again

It's nice to see everything eventually worked out fine again.
I've been in a similar situation with my former employer. These things really suck!

I think I will be more careful now when conducting penetration tests for friends with out written consent from the server admin.
You never really think about it, until you have your house raided!? (Something that hasn't happened to me.)
I wish you luck, I hope no more shit comes from this incident.
