Well here we go, registration is closed. This has been long coming especially with the increase in poor posts. We have left registration open for the longest time period we have ever done. But it is time for us to return to the old days.

Honestly, I'm surprised that this hadn't happened sooner. I'd seen a number of posts that reminded me of newbie stuff. I was half expecting to see the old, "Will you hack my gf's email account for me?"

just to go back on Gsecur post..

not only that but it seems we are getting quite a few lame guys returning here and using the PM system to pester members with offers and lame requests

we also have a few Nigerian scam boys here... if you get any of these requests... then PM a member of the admin team... and we will deal with them

on a final note.... GSO will be having a bit of a spring clean... this will include some members accounts being Deleted...ie

0 posters longer than 3mths

members who have registered multi accounts

a review of the trash can posts

and some repeatedly warned members...

dont be surprised if you can no longer access GSO... you have only your self to blame

we want to make GSO a better place for its members ...so we need to filter out un-wanted members...

Indeed, that is good news. I have been following GSO for years now, and I remember wishing a while ago that registration was open so that I could join. Thankfully, I was able to get in, but seeing as to the recent influx of members, and their quality(or lack thereof) of posts, I completely understand the reasoning. "D00dz u r TeH r0x0rz!" is not English, no one is to going to give Nigeria money, and if you really want to hack something, don't ask others to do your dirty work. Simple, common sense stuff, but it seems to be lost on many people. Closing registration is probably the best thing to do for now.

Sorry about this, but does this mean no new forum members will be able to register? Sorry, but I joined after this has happened before. Do we get to keep our accounts that we have now? I just hope that I havn't posted too many noob posts

runtime - Percisely. Whenever any new members try to join, they will receive an error message stating that registration is closed. As long as you haven't been posting mindless drivel or spam, I doubt you'll have anything to worry about, but ultimately that's up to the admins.

Personally I think there should be a way to register (like writing to an admin), but on the other had I look forward to decrease in spam.

Well if you want us to be stricter with people then use the report post button so we can take action. Just makes our jobs a little easier =)

I am actually happy with this news, even though this is my first initial post. I have spent an abundant amount of time scrolling through some sad and pointless post. Who knew using the "Search" option was so difficult. But who am I to say anything since this is my first post, I just rather research something as thoroughly as possible so I can prevent myself from asking a pointless question.

To be honest, I'm pretty new myself [registered yesterday]. I was checking the forum out constantly and registrations were closed all of the time. As a matter of fact I got used to it that way. Pretty cool I managed to register though

I'm posting this, not because to have one post, but because I want to explain the sense of my existence on this forum.
I'm not a poster from a couple of reasons:
- my English isn't quite good to get involved in discussions
- my knowledge isn't such that I can get myself involved in discussions
- GSO is 'a need' for me, because of my hobby

To explain my hobby:
I'm a member of a team that is working on testing of antivirus programs. We have our site, and I'll post the link on the forum if the admins allow that.
You can see from the above, that GSO forum is a significant source for us, in the meaning of informations, and in the meaning of malware-samples.
If you delete my account because of being idle on the forum, that would be a bad day for me.

I hope I'll find the understanding for my case here.

we dont mind guys here lurking to get the feel of the place..infact we would prefer it if you did...till you feel comfortable and settled in

i would prefer 1 good informative post from a member than 10 pointless "thanks gonna try this when i get home" etc, etc

bobby100... i see your point of view in what you are saying... infact i know for a fact we have several guys like yourself who come here for a specific reason like exploits, AV engineers , consultants ...so they can apply the latest patches to protect there customers ...

we also without a doubt have a few law agency's...curious in some of our members and posts...

smart people keep there mouths shut... and read up whats posted here ..only posting when it matters
