I was googling some information about windows security and rootkits etc. And google gave me this link. Not bad investment at all

When I was first learning about remote keyloggers *cough*, I found another member's username (won't tell who) and logged in, not knowing what it was. I got lost instantly and didn't come back to register for six months when I thought I might have something to contribute.

I first found GSO in the beguinning of 2003 while searching security/hacking related articles... it was my beguinning, yeah I was a noob newbye ... but I can´t remember exactly why I haven´t joined that time...sometimes I ran into one or more articles from here and realized this forum was really serious and had good stuff, not bullshits like other forums has and claims to be ''hacker'' or ''leet'', what I can come to conclusion is that most of these forums that claims to be ''hacker'' are lame heeh... then about a year or so I returned but registration was closed. when it opened again I quickily joined

hmmz i had the urge to learn more about security i asked around and they pointed me towards GSO.
I really like it here learned alot eversince i got here (did cost me a couple of VMware clones though )
To bad i dont have time enough to read everything or test everything, although i testen restrictrun (great prog!!) but couldn't reply to the thread to give the results.
Anyway hope to stay here for a long long time

This is an old topic but i just had to dig it up

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was around the time of dcom/rpc so i was extremely busy as you can Imagen. I remember i had aphex's caycheck running and i was on 56k so things were a bit slow cause i had a massive list and things locked up. I had the shits bad so i just hit the reset button and when i came back online everyone from c0replay was going crazy because something from there was posted here and people took exception to that. I had a browse around and left but i have always remembered the place and poped in from time to time. I dont talk much unless i have something good to say but im always lurking

i'm glad you did dig it up Q`Ball. i never saw this one. must've been during one of my relatively frequent times of inactivity. anyway, i was referred to gso by SyN/AcK(who, sadly, never comes here anymore himself). just like Q, it was around the time of the dcom frenzy and i was in my first security class at my university so i was really revving up into the security world. good memories from that class. SyN and i would hack each other and form temporary alliances to hack other teams. good times and even throughout my inactive times i would regularly come back here to check on the site, even if it was to do nothing other than lurk. best security community i've found, before or since and my hat goes off to the mods.

I was researching/looking for security articles and white papers on tcp/ip and network topology. The forums are well designed and well maintained, and there tends to be no one that shows off, well at least not that often.
Also i think the variety of information and skills available here is quiet impressive

Plus i don't think i have ever seen the forums or the main GSO page down, which is a great security feat.
