How can I make a say .asx file load inside the browser window without loading the actual media player in windows? I want the file to load inside the browser and play there not have windows media player actually startup as if you where watching a movie.

Could you not put a windows media plugin in in frontpage or something then use vbscript to set the properties on it? I dont know that is just a guess but I assume it would work. Or you can convert it to quicktime and use the quicktime plugin which opens inside the browser.

If you would like to embed the video in the page then you must use the <embed> tag example:
This can be used by any form of media that is supported by WMP... I think code is from another website go to:w3schools to learn more about this.
<embed SRC=http://www.yourhost.com/folders/media_to_play.wmv WIDTH=int HEIGHT=int AUTOPLAY=boolean CONTROLLER=boolean LOOP=boolean >
