In my opinion worth of your attention are these pages 'cause there you can find useful info about using Perl with net interaction (shellcodes, sockets) :ph34r:

Perl, Sockets and TCP/IP Networking. Intro to using perl with sockets ;)

Network Programming with IO::Socket

LINUX PERL NETWORK

Server socket, socket bind
Bind to zero and accept.

Client socket, socket bind
Bind to service and connect.

Accept return, return and fork;
Fork and loop while children serve.

if you are looking for examples, http://www.scriptarchive.com/ has a large selection of them for Perl (and PHP, more for Perl and CGI though).

I recently started studying Perl/CGI, and I started out at CPAN.

http://www.cpan.org/
In the end, I became them and led them--
after all, none of us really qualified as humans.
We were hardworn, automatic, and as hollow as the 'O' in God.
I reattached my emotions, cellular and narcotic;
from the top of Hollywood is looked like space:
Millions of capsules and mechanical animals..
A city filled with dead stars and a girl I called Coma White.
This is my Omega.

Two links I found very helpful with Perl CGI
  • Ovid's CGI Course
    a very good tutorial, covering many security issues with CGI Perl.
  • CGI/Perl Taint Mode FAQ
    great FAQ covering almost every aspect of the -T flag in Perl. ( useful even for console scripts ).
