NETWORK SECURITY ANALYST

Job Description: In this technical service and support position, you will provide and maintain authority wide LAN/WAN computer hardware and software on a 24/7 basis. You’ll collaborate with other Technical Support personnel to provide 24/7 coverage, as well as provide & maintain all agency Cisco based WAN routers, switches, firewalls, and proxy server. Other responsibilities include supporting communication links between facilities (2 Broadway and Randall’s Island), as well as supporting communication links between Bridges and Tunnels, other agencies, and the Internet. You will also interconnect routers, hubs, servers, and PCs in a fast paced and diverse hardware and software environment, and define & manage projects to meet project schedules. The ability to provide immediate assistance and service to all Techs and users is necessary; you must respond to crises and still complete scheduled assignments. While responding, identifying, and resolving short-term issues, you must be able to develop and implement a long-term proactive support system by providing guidance and assisting the Technology Department’s hotline staff, making decisions and determining which issues should be escalated. It is imperative that you keep management and co-workers informed of the status of important issues.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
1. A master’s degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, or planning of data processing. At least 18 months of this experience must have been in a administrative, managerial, or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, or planning of data processing. It is also acceptable if you supervised a staff performing these duties.
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in “1” above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described in “1” above.

Specialized Knowledge Preferred:
* Experience in trouble shooting switches, routers, frame-relay ATM and wireless
* Experience in security event monitoring and intrusion detection/prevention (e-security or Net forensic)
* Strong demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP protocol
* Experience with network vulnerability assessment tools
* Experience in policy and procedure development
* Proficient in communication protocols, data and network security
* In depth knowledge of system integration, client/server architecture, distributed processing, connectivity solutions
* Excellent system analysis techniques and analytical skills required
* Working knowledge of networking operating systems – Novell Netware, Windows NT/2000, UNIX
