Remember a couple of things guys. Number 1 - the punishment fits the crime. Warn points are issued for minor infractions for example, extreme profanity, posting serials. People who knowingly upload viruses will be banned no questions asked.
Warn points have been issued to some of our younger members who for some reason can't remember to run antivirus on there own computers.
Remember we the admin team here never does anything for a power trip. Most of our decisions are made with our members in mind. We don not preoccupy ourselves with trying to make the site more popular. We just focus on providing the best enviroment for security minded folks to gather. Now if that sometimes means shutting down registration, or deleting 10,000 accounts, so be it. I admit sometimes I get all giddy with the traffic numbers but comsec and the admin team keep me in check
Now for some of our older members, if you remember we were an open site. No registration was needed to view our information. But what happened was the site began attracting a very unsavory crowd. We became flooded with, hack this computer for me. We also became flooded with beginner members. So we made the site membership only. Now of course that doesn't stop someone from signing up. But it does allow us to control membership must tighter.
Soon we will open membership again most likely by the end of the month, but we may place some restrictions on what email addresses people can use to sign up. And rest assured a clean up and another complete lock down will happen again.
