Dear All

I am writing anti virus software fixing tools, my site is at www.virus-tech.com. The site is still under construction and I am adding fixes as fast as I can get the viruses etc.

If anyone has any of the latest viruses/worms I would greatly appreciate in having them sent to me for analysis etc. There is a link on my site for this.

many thanks
Duncan

I'm using HITMANPRO. It's a combination of tools like Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, Spybot Search & Destroy, CWShredder and some others.
Best of all, It's free of charge
It's available for download @ http://www.hitmanpro.nl

NOTE : It's only available in Dutch.
So is the website.

yea dont forget about those anti-spyware and other such tools but dont forget about antiviruses and firewalls also because they are your first line of defence. For all you that think that Kaspersky is the best, I think that kaspersky sux cause it doesnt offer heuristic and nothing and many exe's can bypass him because it doesnt offers some good protection methods like NOD32 for example which according to me has the best avilible protection algorithm at the moment of the market.

Just an FYI TDS-3 is no longer http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/ In most reviews I read they scored best or close, usually with Trojan Hunter, which I use. I did try and use TDS-3 which I could neither confirm nor deny its effectiveness (free) but liked the options. I did try Kap and was thouroughly impressed, but it did not get along with some other tools I was using and I never found lasting keys/serials and chose free over quality and repeditive licensing.

I do really find it effective, while tedious, the use of DiamondCS ProcessGuard and WormGuard. With a couple tools from systernals (Regmon, ProcessXplorer, and PsList)to catch most anything (outside of rootkits which rootkit killer is great....I think?)trying to intrude upon my system. As far as AV I have tested a lot and still think NOD32 is the best, years of tests and proof to proove it http://www.virusbtn.com/index.xml. I attached a copy of their most recent comparative test result by Vendor and Platform for anyone interested. They are an independant malware advisor.

BTW Exellent article find KennyL, thanks.
