Hi

I have searched all over the place for something that can replace mswinsck.ocx. I have searched in google for probably more than 12 hours and can't find anything that works. I have searched for binders that can bind mswinsck.ocx to my file and I found a person who had a program that could do just that. He had posted a link but of course with my luck the link was dead  the link was to a website called fusion (if someone have that program  ). I have also tried with csocket but no luck. So is there anyone that have tried and successfully connected to irc without mswinsck.ocx. I really don't want to give up on this.

CSocketMaster class is a winsock control substitute. It has the same interface and behavior winsock has so don't worry about having to learn how to use it. If you know how winsock works then you already know how CSocketMaster works. You can use a socket in a form, user control or class without external dependencies or huge memory leaking OCXs. Do you still prefer a user control? No hay problema! Check the samples and learn how ridiculous easy you can make a winsock control clone in less than 20 minutes (d@mn! I love encapsulation). Did I mention it's IDE safe? That's right, you can press the end button all you want and wont get a GPF. Take a look at the readme file for more info. This is my first post ever, please vote! This code is based on CSocket by Oleg Gdalevich that can be found on www.vbip.com (CSocket => CSocketMaster) Keywords: socket, winsock, tcp, udp, internet, lan.

I found that link to when I was searching. I downloaded it and tried to connect to irc with the csocket but I can't get it to work. When I run the program I get socket connecting and after a while I get socket error. It seems like it can't connect. I would be really greatful if someone could try to connect to irc with csocket and see if you could get it to work. I have made the program I just need to get the csocket (or someting else) to work and my project would be done. So I'm begging you please help me.

use the win32 library and use direct winsock functions.

ws2_32.dll is what you need or .lib don't remember how vb works.

CSocketMaster does allow you to connect to a IRC server, I know this because I've used CSocketMaster, and Socket.ctrl in numberous IRC related bots/mallys.

Regards,
thefbi.

P.s., perhaps you are not formatting and doing the on connect statements correctly? senddata etc etc.

GoodLuck! ;)

can IRC servers be connected to witht the tcp controls included in express 2008? If so could someone explain how? I understand the basics of the tcp controls such as establishing connections, network streams, and sending and recieveing data.

if you understand all that already then the only thing you missed is parsing data ;)

could you explain the parsing of data to me, or a good source to find that information. I looking at: hxxp://www.mirc.co.uk/help/rfc1459.txt but it is a little confusing.
