Email spam !!

i am doing penetration testing for email gateways.I need to know test it to protect it from email spam.
i want to know if any tools for testing spam.it would be nice if its a open source .

You should tell us as much information as possible such as the server specs, the OS (at the very least) and the actual server software and verison you are using, and with the appropriate service packs or updates applied to it already so we can better help you.

i just want to know the frame work for email gateway secuirty.so that i can carry forward from there.
