I am trying to gain access to my home computer in texas from my mother's computer in D.C. I know what ports are open because i have access to my router and can open them, but i dont know how to install the radmin (i am attempting to use radmin in this case) remotly. How would i go about doing this? I apologize if this has already been addressed in a different post.

Well, don't be sorry. Actually it's an often question.

But instead this, Nosferatu05, you could try to use the search button or reading radmin's help/site/howto. It is all covered.

BTW, don't forget to read the rules on this forum

yes, there are no hacking questions allowed. i understand this, i am not wishing to hack my own system. and i did read the readme on the radmin site, but i do not have someone at my house in texas to install the remote server. I have also looked up the netcat commands but i am not well versed in it enough to know how i would go about the remote install, or if it is even possible.

I understand your question, I was just trying to be friendly with you. Ive heard that radmin questions could be trashed as servu ones are, but it seems they arent yet.

Sorry, but if you dont have a shell or any other access to your Texas computer you wont be able to install radmin only with control of your router. Only if you exploit something there and get remote access but then this is another history.

fulvioo is spot on. You need to have a shell on your machine at home in order to be able to install Radmin or any other remote control software...

Although, you could use Dameware and seeing as it is your machine you will have the username and password already. Dameware allows remote installation and has a remote control option built in.

I dont know of any others that have this. You must have the username and password of course.

if you have router access and your pc has file and print sharing you can always open up the file and printer sharing ports for 1/2 minute, map a drive and put your install into the startup directory.
