I purchased an Enterasys Networks RoamAbout card on eBay a couple of months ago. It uses the Orinoco chipset, and works perfectly on my dual-boot XP/SUSE 9.3 laptop. You can sometimes get Windows drivers to install under Linux using ndiswrapper available from SourceForge.

That site on ebay doesnt seem to be responding to my emails. I dont suppose anyone knows any other good european websites, that deliver inside the EU, where i would get one of these cards?

do yourself a favour and get the Prism2 chipset cards, if you are interested in wifi pen testing.

Orinoco is cool, but isnt as widely support, under *nix, as the Prism

I have the Senao SL2511CD+ and it works great under Auditor, just boot and go.

use it, dont use it

Hi there,
i have a DWL650+ the "so called" ExtremeG protocol... :D
Well on my laptop a have a dual boot XP / slackware ... it works great (try madwifi drivers) link here i tried to install Kismet but it seems slackware has a problem with a library and never really really tried to set it up correctly.
one thing i noticed is that the range is slightly smaller in linux than in windows about 1, 2 meters, some weird thing about the *nix drivers hope they fix it soon.
PS: it is very stable under slackware. the chipset is Atheros and my HW version is C2.

Hehe, i just stumbled into this nice link this week, thought i'd share it here:

http://www.wlanparts...L2511CDPLUSEXT2

What more does one need huh?
... besides airco, a car adapter and some sort of shielding so that people dont see you typing in your car :)

I've just ordered the DWL-650 11Mbps so i'm hoping it will be the old version then... :s If not they can put it where the sun doesn't shine (its the 3th card i purchase!) and i'm getting this one here

Regards,

Edit:

The specs tell you its compatible with windows, but off course you 're not happy with windows! But this card is auditor-cd-ready and works well with linux and kismet. Info gathered from this, imho, fine tutorial:

I didnt get to actually testing this because i dont have my card yet but it seems like trust-worthy info.

Yah, I am finding these answer for long time and still no buddy can answer my question, is about wireless.

In my hostel of university there are wireless modem or wateva router stick to the cyling. And i was wondering if there is any wireless connection for us student to use it. After getting some laptops for experiment, it shows that there is wireless connection available, but with a description:'This connection is unsecured". And we are not even can use it but detected that connection signal was Excellent!

I am wondering how am i going to get use to that connection and maybe using any airsnot or kismet may sniff into that connection? or if i buy D-link DWL-650 or any Prism Based wireless card may help to find solution?! IS THAT HELPS?

Thanks in advance to any experties, I may fully appreciate it.

Another question is about repairing the connection.
I tried to repair the connection but it found that stopped on the Renewing IP Address operation.
Is there any solution on that?
I confirmed that the connection is Infrastructure type, just headache about why i cant use the connection to online... since the right-bottom part of windows says "connected to 'any'".
