If not could anyone recommend another card?

I did some research on that too, unfortunatly for me... i was to late to find this list: http://www.wildpacke...ropeek/hardware as i already bought a wirelessG WPC54G (broadcom chip, so it wont work, or not yet anyway) Normaly, when it works with aeroPeek chances are it will work with the other programs too (or at least, thats what i read about it in another *nix program's help file)

Hope this list helps you

Well, then my advice is not to buy it...

With my card for example, "WPC54G" is not supported while Linksys "WPC55AG Dual-Band Wireless A+G Notebook Adapter" is ...

If you want to be sure, send an email to the people ad wildpackets.com, they responded to my question within a day.

I have the Dlink DWL 650+ in my zaurus and I use kismet with no issues. I also use the adapter in my laptop and whoppix with it with no probs. the old vs is prisim 2 the newesr ones is a different chip set. Though mine is prism 2 I can not get the air replay attack to work with it cause whoppix detects it as eth0 and not wlan0. Either way kismet works fine on it.

Make sure that the issue isn't you are using aireplay 2.1. Apparently it requires 2 cards to send packets and capture them with airodump. The latest Auditor CD has 2.2 and can do both simultaneously (sp?) My wireless card is seen as eth0 as well. I have cracked 2 test networks in the last 2 days in 40 minutes or less. Oh yeah its a netgear 54g card with the prism chipset.

As far as I've tested 'D-Link Air DWL-650+" does not work with Kismet..

The one im looking for is the 'D-Link Air DWL-650' as it contains Prism2/2.5 chipset. But beware, there exist both an old and a newer version of the DWL-650. Because after a while D-Link gave up the Prism2 chipset and started fabricate it with another chipset that is not supported in Kismet.

So beware on what 650'er you buy, here is the pic of the old 650, that contains Prism2 chipset;

And this is the new version of the D-Link 650 that does NOT work with Kismet;

Too bad D-Link don't manufactor the one with Prism2 chipset anylonger, but you can be lucky to find it on eBay.

God dammit! ;)

So does anyone have any recommendations for cards that are still actually being made?

BN has stated it multiple times. The Cisco wireless cards work with the linux native drivers. They are a little more expensive but they are supposed to work.

I wonder how long it will be before the writers of these apps realize they need to come up with a new way to do this cause it seems cards using prisim is getting fewer and fewer.

yea, the majority of ones i've been looking at arent made anymore and any places that do them say it will take a long time to get them in.

Its a bitch really

This card

11:04:19 < Necrocide> Known supported cards: Atmel_USB, ACX100, ADMTek, Atheros, Cisco, Prism2,
11:04:20 < Necrocide> Orinoco, WSP100, Drone, wtapfile, pcapfile, wrt54g, ipw2100, rt2400,
11:04:20 < Necrocide> rt2500, rt8180, ipw2200, ipw2915

Conversation me and necrocide had before. Kismet supports many card types, for example, i dont have a prism2 chipset. I have Orinoco and kismet works fine.

glitch:/home/brad# lsmod | grep prism <- No prism2 Modules Loaded
glitch:/home/brad# iwpriv eth1 | grep monitor
          monitor          (8BE8) : set   2 int   & get   0 <- Monitor Mode Active

http://www.governmen...showtopic=15173 <- Heres a small post about getting the orinoco working quickly.

Also, if your not sure, and they have a display model, bring in auditor and see if it works. Or Whoppix, but it didnt have the same patch, my card doesnt work in whoppix but on my normal nix install and auditor.
