remove File and print sharing from all computers .

Btw if u block port 139 file sharing will be blocked and it wont affect most of ur applications coz none of them uses this port . If u use some remote admin programs (which uses services like rpc and dcom ) then they may give some prob so remove F& P sharing

If you "File and print sharing from all computers," any PCs running XP won't be able to log into the domain.

If you dont want them the be able to share files, disable their Server Service
If you dont want them to be able to view files, disable their Workstation (and as a result others)

net stop netbios

This will stop the NetBIOS interface but also stops Filesharing over NetBIOS (Port 135,139 and NetBIOS over TCP/IP Port 445)

If you want still to have the ability to get Files but not to share just uninstall the "Datei- und Druckerfreigabe fr Microsoft Netzwerke" in your Network-Adapter-Proterties. In english it should sound like "Data- and Printingservice for Microsoft Networks".

But don't forget that you still need the "Client for Microsoft Networks" to have the ability to get Files via NetBIOS! At all i would suggest you to use a central FTP and Link everybody with his Account so he could access files via the Explorer. ;)

For further readings i suggest you to read the two following articles which should exactly match your questions:

Windows Filesharing: Facing the Mystery

What's Port 445 used for win W2k/XP?

Yeah... Simply delete the shares, and don't give their accounts permission to create shares or install programs, as someone might install an ftp server and share that way
