Im sure many of you have heard or come across "bluesnarfer". Its a linux based tool that allows you to pull info (phonebook) from a bluetooth enabled mobile phone. Ive compiled "bluesnarfer" fine, theres just a problem when running it. Have any of you got experience with this tool? Heres the error:

/home/xyz/Desktop/Downloads/bluesnarfer>./bluesnarfer -i -b 00:0E:07:D5:54:16
device name: bluefish
bluesnarfer: open /dev/bluetooth/rfcomm/0, No such file or directory
bluesnarfer: bt_rfcomm_config failed
bluesnarfer: unable to create rfcomm connection
bluesnarfer: release rfcomm ok

What am i doing wrong?

Cheers

P.S - Im new to linux, please take it easy on me

I have no true solution but just read messages.

bluesnarfer: open /dev/bluetooth/rfcomm/0, No such file or directory

I think, linux doesn t find your bluetooth adaptator.
Try to use your bluetooth adaptator work with an external hardware.

It's only 2 and a bit years since this question was asked - does anyone know the answer yet as to why bluesnarfer gives the error "/dev/bluetooth/rfcomm/0, No such file or directory"?

My bluetooth adaptor is working fine for things like hictool etc.

And no, there aren't any helpful answers from google - just lots of people asking the same question... ;)

read manual of rfcomm tool to set it manually with proper path or just simply configure it through config files

Yeah, your bluetooth adaptor has been mounted somewhere else other than /dev/bluetooth/rfcomm/0 ... Distros use different paths for mounting.
