I know but some people are tight about security. Theres a SSL plugin for mIRC users here.

I, personally prefer to stay on the secure side, and even if someone that won't do anything can view my personal conversations, I don't tolerate it, even if it's perfectly legal. And if I ever have a private conversation, it's usually encrypted. Nothing illegal goes on in gso-chat and I'm not saying the whole channel should be encrypted, I'm saying you should get some sort of encryption for irc in general, since it's not that hard to spy on personal conversations on IRC.
