I was a bit bored today so i looked around for a new defiance.
In my network are running some gentoo machines.
A desktop machine - gentoo/xfree/fluxbox
Servers - file server/router/shoutcast/squid/etc
tell me about your favourite distros/apps/servers and so on...
Running vector linux on my 64mb ram p3 600mhz with icewm and it works faster than windows 98 and ofcourse much better than that :D . Vector is made from slackware so always good performance.

This might be something you may be interested in. You can put it in a DMZ and see whats going on. Depending on where your at you may want to include a banner just for safety's sake.

Yes, i have too a openBSD box as a firewall with pf and pfstat. This mahine aims to protect and give internet connection to my others computers ( 1 linux box and windows xp <_< ... ) !
It's pretty secure i thing, better than windows and extremely configurable.
Moreover, this kind of box run on a computer not very powerfull ( 100 Mhz or more ).
It's so very cheaper and secure. However, with this kind of computer you cannot have a graphical interface :P !
I have installed too, a file system integrity : AIDE and a log checker : logcheck. I will try soon a honeypot, it's a good tools...
