Friends,

My friend has got a Virus in his pc, that is what he believes... He says, he is not able to browse the net.. When he try to connect with his DIAL UP, it gets connected, I mean, you can see the icon down there in status bar, Well, after a while nothing will work.. Even if he disconnects the telephone like from the modem, the ICON still stays there and says it is connected.. Isnt it funny?.. How come this?.. Any clue?

I don't know of any virus that does this, but I imagine I don't know them all. What version of Windows is this on?

Sounds like either a bad modem driver, or a bad windows install. Either try performing a through scan disk(if on me or earlier) or just a regular one if on 2k or xp. and if that doesnt help then i would suggest a reformat.

O_o well, ask your friend about to save all the important info and format the system drive

Well,I had the same problem 8 months before.
I tried different things but ALAS!
I had to format.
