As you may all know, SP2 will include a firewall that is installed by default. This will flag up every outgoing internet connection, which means 90% of vics will be lost once it's installed...
I'm looking for the service names of the new firewall, if anyone knows what they are please let me know, and I will write a program to kill it, which can be installed prior to SP2 installation (to be posted in downloads forum).
Thanx...

I have tested and installed the beta 2 of sp2
and the firewall name is the same as on sp1. It would b unlikely purely for back
word compatibility that MS would change its name in the final rls of SP2.
service name (SharedAccess)
description (Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) / Internet Connection Sharing)
note that most of those vics out their havent installed the majority of sp packs from
MS so its unlikely that they would install sp2.

I agree with bah, the reason they vics in the first place is due to the lack of security patches and service packs. I wouldnt worry to much about it. Just because the world is on their bottom right corner, doesnt mean they use it.

And if it's anoying to people they will disable it, but i think they will not change the service name, i think the startdard firewall get upgraded.

That's something completely different, to do with the way that Windows deals with applications that may call on the OS for a specific task.

that would mean that millions of admins..
would have to check billions of machienes..
one by one for running services...
and open the ports for their services again..
i dont think that ms would do something like that!

alg does have something to do with ICS, you have to have it started for ICS to be able to be started.
