Hi KC
This means, that another ServU is already started. So you have to 1) stop the service, that's running or 2) hex your ServU or 3) push the disconnect and leave the server alone
best bet is to try and stop the existing ser-u.
personally I use a serv-u with the event ID changed to allow multiple instances of the program (2 copies of serv-u can run together)....... Hex ed the Even ID. The method is explained on this site somewhere. I posted it a while ago.
try dir c:\serv*.* /s the he searches if your lucky you find a serv-u and can stop it with kill.exe then you can start your serv-u
tryed all theese things:
net stop serv-u list.exe (looking for another serv-u) killed other processes dir serv*.* /s but didnt work...rootkit?
Could be that the Error is a Anti virus that block the Serv-U..
if there isnt another Serv-u Active Try disable the Anti Virus it happent to me and the Anti Virus was the problem
no it can not be that a av is blocking serv-u if u dont see it leave the server alone u would srew up anyhow just my 2 cents greetz
hex your serv-u.. thats the best thing to do.
hehe i get this too. dont really kno what to do all i do is net stop it if i can find it
Just leave it alone!! Is this lesson1 in a rehacking course??
If you know what your doing and it's clear the sysop is running the other serv-u instance (e.g. c:\program files\serv-u is a good lead) then you can solve this by hexxing your serv-u exe and changing the Unique event ID and the servicename. That way it can run nicely next to the original sysop serv-u. Or you can user serv-u2.5 with srvany/instsrv. This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content.
