I don't support your actions. Mass mailing some may argue is one of the biggest problems with the internet(not my opinon but I have seen it argued). You in my opinon are schum.

No, I dont need them to mass mail. In fact, I only need one. I want to use it to to send e-mail to my account showing the ip of the remote comp.

To concur is to agree...
And it's really really judgmental of you to assume he's going to mass mail simply because he asks for mail servers... he could be testing an exploit, or testing headers, or testing how long it takes someone to reply with an smtp server.

I don't really know of any, except mx.hotmail.com but it doesn't work too well. But usually throwing mx in front of a domain can get you some results, so if you haven't tried that, you should.

Droptrash you're right. I shouldn't assume it's for spam. Bad wd, bad wd...

Yes not good for bandwith. So if you need one why you don't scan for it ...

Try any major site's server. Many have the SMTP port open, and since you only need one, it really wouldnt be that much work. Just remember that if you send anything illegal, they will be able to trace it back to your IP...

I just raid my spam in my email... lololol almost all the emails originate from open relay servers.
It's actually really weird when i want to use this method and i'm calling up all my buddies asking if they got any spam in the last day and to forward it to me

i looked throughall the headers of the emails that i have recived that are spam but i dont get the versions of programs that are vulnerable. does a smtp server say on the headers if relaying is available? is this option turned off from most admins? just wanted to know, im a nice guy i would just tell the admin about the hole and tell him to tighten stuff up so that i get no more spam

I can understand maybe sending an email to your local congressman anonymously, but not mass mailing. That is as low as it goes. If you really want to be anonymous build your own SMTP Server, or a prog to strip and replace the headers.
