hi,

it's a stupid question but how do i see or how do i find a router on a network?
netmatrix
If the router is configured for snmp .Then u can use solaris winds and browse through the mib for cisco. wink.gif
netmatrix
U can also use a sniffer like sniffer pro to find out for the packets if thier is a router on the network.
zero-maitimax
oke but do you have a very simple basic scanner that you can see it...
Jay
You could use tracert command from out side the network and see how the packet's enter the network to a destination computer within the network.

ashutosh_trappedvector
Do a simple tracert to the destination ,and enable the 'Resolve to DNS Name'.If ,during the course of packet travel , a cisco router happens to come by,it will be named 'like cisco' ,as following

102.23.234.43 -cisco.simtel.pacific.net (DUMMY)
Pro21
tracert www.google.fr

Détermination de l'itinéraire vers www.google.akadns.net [66.102.11.104]

mmmm... oke thx i will trai it..

nmap will usually os detect cisco ios.

Routers are normally 1 or 2 hops away from a server on the internet. So if you traceroute victim.ip then it's normally a good bet that the hope before the server is a firewall and the hop before that is a router.

I found these articles tell you how to find linksys and cisco routers and how to get into them.

If you search for cisco routers on your LAN just sniff for cdp trafic....sometimes amazing that's not disable.

heres a simple suggestion all cisco products by default keep port 1999 open (if they are not blocked) also check portslike 1998,1997,1996 and mine also got 6001 .(not mine the one installed by my isp tongue.gif)
