This is very simple, I don't know if anyone will take the time to write a tut on how to install a fairly easy to use FTP server. With a little reading you should be able to get it to work. Default setup will run by only adding one ";" to the config file. and starting ioFTPD.exe.
Install as a service with instsrv.exe/srvany.exe.

I'm using Serv-U FTP 4.1.0.8 and I think it's best for stro making. But I didn't test Raiden etc.

see the only thing bad about serv-u is it limits speeds - so for dumps (100mbit+) its useless - for that usse raiden or io - but best is glftp which is only for linux

local : bpftp
remote : serv-u
same here. seems to be the way to go. bftp is very easy to setup and run as a service on my local machine for file sharing. and the benefits of serv-u have been very well covered. but I highly recommend bftp for your local needs.
I used to use Serv-U hexed with StartupLog and Servicename changed.
Switched to ioFTPD due to speed and some other issues

remote: serv-u 4.1.0.3 (mod ~ 700k version [for final complete root]), and SlimFTPd + NetCat backdoor ([for initial root]).
Actually I recomend that to everyone, SlimFTPD to transfer files, and NetCat to start stuff, unless your me with a moded serv-u.

I take it all these are for pubstros, well then I guess Serv-U would suffice, but when we manage to "start" larger sites that deserve sitebots and proper race checking etc etc, ioFTPd is the only way to go. imho it has surpassed glFTPd in features and in speed. It is the fastest daemon available for Windows, hey it doesn't even have a gui so no need to hide anything, its tricky the first time but after you set it up 4 or 5 times you fly through it.

ioftpd is still ran on a windows system, and true sceners have such a negative stigma about io and windows, if you ever wanna run a great site it'll have to be gl.

nolimit, if people would read d1's posts about the speeds of io, sceners wouldnt be such whores . Plus if you have that good of a site, VMWare + gentoo + jfs + gl and you can do >100MB/s on a proper 1gbit site.

What's the point in first installing slimftpd and after that install serv-u.... Serv-u installs so easy. I don't see why

Sux is a plugin for the ServU Ftp Server. It allows you to use new tags in your login and chdir messages, like top uploader and downloader statistics. It adds an request and dupe check system to your server. you get access to advanced site cmd's like an process viewer+killer, and more...

currently of course serv-u (5.0), before 3.0.0.17, but IoFTPD is good, but in my opion in the developer phase, too many releases, too many new features, every new version have a new ini and so on. serv-u currently the best
