It may be spyware, I had a client who exhibited exactly those symptoms. It ended up bieng spyware.
Run ad aware, update it after you download it. http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10045910...tml?legacy=cnet <a href="http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10045910.html?legacy=cnet">http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10045910.html?legacy=cnet<\a>
I had the same problem some time back. I think my problem was that I installed some software and it ended up screwing with IE when it was running or when I uninstalled it. Which I cant' remember. My solution was to pop my WinXP CD back in and reinstall. I didn't format, just reparied my installation. Worked fine after that.
thats one solution but what happened to all the updates?

I've found that running Spyware-S&D once a week eliminates these probs and keeps the machine running in tip top shape.
I definatly recommend running ad-aware. The amount of spyshite it found on this box was unbelievable.
Also, another idea would be to go through your task manager...shutting off running processes one at a time and see if any of them are interfering with IE. Good luck..and let us know how you get on.
try doing ie repair by going too http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en and reinstalling it or something
Did you play with your firewall, Double check it and make sure that everything is fine, If possible, reinstall both IE and Firewall... Do a complete Windows UPDATE.... M8, can make it right man... Dont get upset...
