A nice way to get around this is to use the Winternals Admin Pak 4.0 (or 3.01) boot CD, which contains ERD Commander that basically boots into a "Windows-like" OS and gives full access to the system. Once inside the system you can change registry settings, recover the SAM, change the password to whatever you want, and do numerous other things if you wish. The disc also contains an NTFS read/write access driver to allow full access to the system from the command line as well. Check it out here, kinda pricey:

the methods are different for 98 and XP.
you'll have to boot of a floppy disk.
and copy either the .pwl files or the .sam files to the disk
and then break them with john/cain/l0pht etc
ask again if you want more detail

If you have physical access to the NT machines, you can also just go here:
http://home.eunet.no/%7Epnordahl/ntpasswd/And make a nice bootable floppy which you can use to reset the password to blank for any NT system

It works great. (Note, it's better to reset to blank then to try and change the password, blank will always work)

On 98/ME if you have local access, you can just hit cancel. Or another little hole I discovered, if you know you have an account that has a password that you want to get into, just try to log in, when it gives you the error message that you can't get in, log into one that has no password, and you'll log into the first one.

ntpasswd is very helpful, I've used it several times.
As for cracking the Admin Pak, come on, this isn't a warez board.
You'll need to check the newsgroups or IRC for help there.
I'll give you a little hint though, astalavista.box.sk or cracks.am

I don't think so man
You can always go on to somes login that doesnt have a password and do it...
And if it has the Alt+Ctrl+Del to log in....then....uh just press Alt+Ctrl+Del
Either way....their is always someway you can use this od to get it...
