Is anyone else using this card currently with RedHat 8?

I was able to get it to work by editing my pcmcia.cfg file, but.... That method makes the card work on eth0 not wan0

Also every so often the card freaks out giving me a TX error, probably because the drivers are close but not exactly right laugh.gif

Anyone been able to get this card to work right?

Or does anyone know of a wireless card that works straight out of the box in Redhat8 (ok I know I am dreaming rolleyes.gif )

Your Problem is not the card it's your choice of OS. Dont use RedHat. Go to something worthwhile such as Slackware or Gentoo. But an Orinoco will probally work with no problems.

netgear ma401 has 3 different drivers!

don't use orinoco and wlan drivers

use host-ap drivers and everything will go like a charm...

orinoco has some wrong function call...
wlan-ng slow downs your pc tremendusly...
host-ap gives you some add-ons and works fine...

don't care about your distro... recompiling is necessary...

bye

I like RH 9 myself. I am using a Cisco pcm-350. The drivers are on the cd (not that you have to use them, it ran just fine with the RH drivers) and it comes with its own utility to configure the network parameters. Last but not least it works with Kismet without having to recompile the kernel (wlan-ng)or patch drivers (orinocco).
