I've done some searching but I couldn't find any good explanations.

I really don't know much about proxy's and wingates, what is the difference?
How do I use one? You should do more about a proxy than fill it in in Internet Explorer cuz I want my complete data traffic to go through that proxy/wingate.
You can scan for them, but what is the best tool to use? And how do I install proxy/wingate on a remote machine?

All info is welcome! biggrin.gif

Thanx for reading smile.gif

[EDIT] BTW why do I have warning at the bottom of my nick field? [/EDIT}

no1 has any info about this subject? sad.gif
relax
u use a proxy to route all your traffic throught another pc, most of the time this is really slow!! u can scan for open proxys using loads of tools, i use http://w0g.proboards22.com/index.cgi for all my proxy needs!

wingates allow u to telnet throught them which normal proxys dont.... and u are able to link a few wingates together to be harder to trace (i think) and i hae never come across a working wingate sad.gif
hope this helped a bit

Well every help is welcome but isn't a proxy only for browsing the internet?
So when I exploit or ftp do I use the proxy then? There must be more info about this smile.gif

Just hack yourself a nice n fast 155 mbit or something and put a socks 5 proxy on it. than you have your private proxy to do whatever you want smile.gif
Zenuka
Ok, but how to install the socks proxy? What tool do you use?
coder
ok, well to 'install' the app. you might need to do a few things like rolleyes.gif

.copy the application and any dependency files it may have (that's a no brainer) onto the box.
.create some sort of startup call for this application (you're going to want your proxy running all the time right smile.gif )
.finally, hide the application (this can be done quite a few ways, too many for me to start listing)

but isn't a proxy only for browsing the internet?

you are talking about a HTTP Proxy, same concept only it's solely for browsing, while a socks proxy can be used for a myriad of clients...

if i missed anything, please - comment huh.gif

It's also possible to use SSL Tunneling to hide your ip.. Try reading this has some basic info:

Correct me if im wrong cuz im not 100 % sure.

If U FXP from Stro to Stro using aan proxy the each stro sees the IP of the sending/downloading stro plus the IP of the host loging on.

/--------------------------stro
FXPing host ----PROXY--/
\---------------------------stro

If u FXP from stro to stro using a wingate it will go like this and the data goes thru the wingate

Stro
|
|
fxping host --- wingate
|
|
Stro

But again I do not know this for sure

Damn my lay out doesn't work.

no need for a 155mbit when you try to redirect the traffic from your cable modem :\

As already mentioned, socks proxies can be used for any type of connection. Also, there is a certain class of proxy which support connect method, these also can be used for any type of connection. Any proxy which can be used for FTP, can also be used for IRC, kazaa, smtp, etc., and vice versa, as they are all either socks or support connect method.

If your not willing to scan for them yourself, there are a few free proxy lists on the web that have both socks and connect method proxies available. Eg:
