i know alot of ppl know about it but im sure there are
some who dont.
when nav "catch" the virus
it will put it in a folder named
Quarantine
program files --> norton antivirus --> Quarantine ( --> incoming )
if you dont want to take a risk of any way
just delete the virus
and you will be calm untill the next virus attack
peace.

i would highly suggest you uninstall norton anti virus and delete any trace of it from your computer

find a better anti virus scanner

Well, it doesn't just "put" the virus in the quarantine folder, it encrypts it beforehand disabling the virus from being able to do anything. You can use the NAV interface itself to remove the quarantined viruses. The purpose of Quarantine is so that you can inspect the virus to see if it requires any specific attention, such as being an unknown virus that needs to be sent to Symantec for analysis.

I use e-Trust Antivirus. Doesnt hog nearly as many resources as Norton, yet it does the job right.

AVG was very good too, but it has (or atleast used to) have a nasty habit of locking down suspected files or deleting them on the spot, not exactly useful for when I want to test the tools that people post for D/L.

Well, I have found that RAV (Reliable Anti-virus) was awesome stuff. It detected viruses that even the great Kaspersky missed! Unfortunately, Billy Gates bought out the company and you can't even download the demo anymore. It scans all docs on the fly, auto updates upon log-in, and even finds mutations. I've got the demo, but am uncertain how long they'll honor the live updates, and they've scratched the download area for it already. Why Bill why?! This software found 6 viruses which went right under the Symantec radar and two that Kaspersky missed originally. Even the great NOD32 missed a few of them. Well, if anyone wants to obtain a copy of the demo, just e-mail me, and you can check it out. (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to upload a demo here, plus I'm just a lowly member wanna be:-) )

Kaspersky is the one I use,,,
it can use resources when you scan BIG files like 1 gig and up but it is all you need to get away from "viruses"
If not modified bt people like you Will catch a big part of those too anyway

i use avg by gri-soft ( i think)

its free and they keep it up-to-date, its not the best but as long as
you arnt an idiot that takes anyfile someone sends to you or download files
that you don't know what they do then your ok

I am a big fan of the trend housecall company. Thier online scan has seen anything that has been on my computer. I used to use norton but I would decide to do trend every once and a while and as soon as trend found it norton would wake up and tell me it found the virri. So i made the switch.

Tds and Kaspersky are the best one in my opinion.

i use norton with the cleaner (moosoft) doing runs every 24 hours and a firewall , does good for what i need

I Use McAfee, because Norton AV pro didn't detect my UPX packed Optix trojans, and scan*.exe scanner and McAfee did, so that convinced me to switch.

ahhh..dont share what you use to protect yourself......
