I thought i would post this considering live cds are a very powerful tool. this one in particular i use is slax, its based of slackware. since slackware is not a heavy system like knoppix and fedora the size is only 180MB. (234 mb for gcc + libs) unlike other live cd's its customization is very easy and you dont have to remaster the whole system to get it to the way you want it ( but you still can if you want to ) slax contains a directory in its iso\cd called modules. this directory contains modules you create or download. modules can be created in acouple of ways the most appealing is that of grabbing a slackware 10.0 or current package and converting it to a module by doing a tgz2img tgzfile imgoutput. you can then either load the module on the fly using moduse imgfile or you can insert the module into the modules directory on the iso( using winiso or other software) and reburn it to a cd( this way it loads everytime you run the cd ). slax like damnsmalllinux, feather linux and adios provides you with the ability to save your config. which you can decide what gets saved and to what location floppy/another hdd/ usb device/. with the insertion of modules and saving config. creating your own personal system to how you want it without that extra crap becomes very easy. i personally find slax the best live cd ive used due to its flexability. a slax hacker version is currently in the process of being created but with the flexability slax has its easy to create your own system to your needs.
