I think it based it browse functionallity using Microsoft Internet Explorer, if u un-install that... i think u won't be able to browse with it. Don't think that works. Im using firefox myself and uninstalled IE (via software --> add/remove windows components) and am still able to browse via explorer. Also I wasn't able to remove some IE stuff in the program files directory. It seems you can't get rid of it completely (it's an unremovable part of windows??). But back to your question blahplok, I have no idea.
Just a idea off the top of my head, but does altering the file association get you where you want to go?
i.e htm amd html are opened with notepad instead of iexplorer or set so Explorer comes up with unknown file extension for those as well as asp, cgi, php etc...?
If you use a firewall which controls programs access to the internet, like Zonealarm, then you can restrict windows explorer from accessing it..
(i didn't check it, but i think it should work)
it DOES work with a firewall!
they are just different programms, the iexplore and explorer i would recommend kerio personal firewall, there u can specify which programms can connect through which port and so disable windows explorer to get out of ur machine.
delete everything and install linux
