Do you have RSS feeds available? I spend alot of time checking for new topics and replies. A few of us are thinking about designing a tool which could sit in the windows systray then alert us when new topics have been put on the forum or when people have replied to our posts. A kind of forum monitor. Its going to be a personal tool that im not planning on distributing, dont want it to lead to a DoS :-s

Just planning on having a little icon in windows systray which would flash when a new topic is posted, then by hovering over it a tooltip text would appear showing the new topic.

I think that would be a great tool. That is something i would also use if you reconsidered releasing it. Better then trudging through my email looking for one that catches my interest.

RSS feeds...I haven't done any work with them at all...but can you force them to use authentication...then only members will be able to use the tool. Force it to login in if at all possible in order to monitor the feeds.

Th eonly RSS feed that I do use is for the news which I don't think you want also we use CGI to syndicate the articles. Check my sig you'll see it there.

Train25 - wont be releasing the tool because if it works as planned it could be pretty popular and could therefore generate alot of unwanted traffic on GS. Happy to show screenshots and maybe a quick tutorial on how to develop, better get it working myself first though :-s
