Hey all
What irc-server do u wanna use ?
DALnet blocks all port 80, 8080, 1080 and 3128 proxys and most other networks do the same ...
if u wanna stay anon on irc, u should have a look for a bnc - much easier and less work ....

guys, are proxies just the same as bnc's? how do i use them? how do i connect to them?

Theres been some great papers in phrack on it, but it's no doable without knowing what you are doing, thus meaning someone who just wants to spoof his hostname on IRC isn't going to get it to work. Rather it's a mechanism where you shut the remote host down and then pose as him by changing your IP on the initial SYN Flag in the TCP Handshake, the remote host being down doesn't reply causing the Remote Host to accept and then you send a command, this one article in particuliar i'm speaking of was spoofing using RSH with the trusted IP's in it's accept file. However you can't just spoof your ip. I mean by spoofing your IP to someone elses the remote machine assumes your it and sends the packets to it which you can't be, get my drift.

for full blown IP spoofing (shoulda done a search on it on thsi forum before asking) is here http://forums.governmentsecurity.org/index...&st=0&#entry184

and proxies CAN ALMOST be the same as a BNC if used right... and there a number on here. Please search before asking a question.
For proxies click here: http://forums.governmentsecurity.org/index...&st=0&#entry739
