is it worth having?
has anyone used it, any comments? thank you.
ive only read about these, dont know if they are avaliable yet?
i remeber reading bout the same time as cpu's where going to have AV built in :-) i tend to stick with 3com 905c's for network cards :-)
well its available in the market.
SANS has a review of it, and recommend as part of the defense-in-depth strategy.
By the by that was just a practicle article for passing a GIAC certification test and not actually from SANS.
But he has a very good point, defense-in-depth! Yes all machines should have client firewalls. Yes wouldn't it be cool to stop it at the NIC. But the question that brings up is: is it really any better than a software based approach? I can see why it would be nice and would add a few benifits but the software ones work great. My advice, stick with the software ones (sygate makes a nice free one) for now. 3Com usually both sucks and blows when it comes to security and anything but NICS (yes this includes those crappy superstack switchs they make). --P>G>> This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content.
